As a last attempt to get this game to work, since some people have had success with removing files, texture packs, third party apps, etc... I did a factory reset (lost a lot of stuff and took a lot of time). After I got Google Play store back, went directly to MCPE and installed. Still have the same issue.
So.... it seems to be an issue with the 15. 0/1/2 update than a device problem. I know some have done this already with the same results. I did this for my own satisfaction to insure it was not something that I had downloaded causing the problem.

Yes, Updated through Google Play Store using home WiFi. WiFi is working on all other apps. No texture packs or any other third party apps. Any way to go back to 14.0?

Many people are having the same issue.
Same issue. when tapping the MCPE icon, screen goes blank for a few seconds then back to the tablet home screen. No menu, no errors, just black screen. Only happened recently when updating to 15.0 and/or 15.1.

This is NOT a duplicate thread since I cannot even get to the game at all. I only get a blank screen when opening. No menu, No errors, No anything, except Black! Not resolved.

I have no third party packs installed. I completely uninstalled the app and using my file management app deleted all files to insure a clean install. Re-installed MCPE from Google Play store. MCPE still refuses to open. As stated above only a black, blank screen appears for a few seconds then disappears back to the tablet home screen.
Most of the current black screen issues started with the 15.0 update affecting most android 4.0 systems. Seems that would be a good starting point for a fix. The problem started with the incorporation of MCPE to the Windows 10 platform and the addition of Realms. Also the requirement for an internet connection to play the game may also be an issue. I think earlier versions could be played off line. My Sony Tablet still don't work. Android version 4.0.3
