Having same issue still after dying from falling out of the world in creative. Respawn in the same way you did but could not hurt myself by punching since I was in creative mode. Couldn't really do anything except change viewpoint in order to look around. I tried to /kill myself multiple times which killed me but I still remained as if alive but unable to move. Can now build and break within what is reachable from current point but it only registers my death until I relog, and then I respawn in the same issue.
