I hope it'll help to solve the problem. Please do something about it. In my case the worst part was, that the holes appeared far away from where I was and I kept making progress without even knowing that my world is already broken.

It's a local world.

I play on a laptop, Winddows 10.

I don't know if that's important but when my minecart disappeared, I pushed two full minecarts and they went towards the end of the railway, one probably hit the other and dissapeared. I looked everywhere around, it was gone. It was the moment the holes appeared, I see that on my back up worlds.

I have the same issue. I've just lost a minecart with chest full of items. I pushed two minecarts with chests on my railway, and it went on through the powered rails and stopped when there were no rails anymore (the railways was above the ground). One of them just disappeared. First I thought one cart pushed the other and it fell down but there was nothing, I even dugged through the area and it's gone 😞
