The three dots is the path leading up to the .minecraft directory in Appdata.
I found out that the directory for the game was
.../.minecraft/--assetsDir
. If in type in something random in like 0 it will do the same thing as my path off of the computer. I don't think the new launcher recognizes paths that don't start with C:/, X:/, ect. and goes to the
.../.minecraft/--assetsDir
, however the settings option becomes empty, but is then reset to the default directory .minecraft the next time I save.
The text formatting kinda messed that up and I can't find a way to overwrite it
FTFY
The launcher updated today and is now 2.0.774, and now the game launches, but the worlds, settings, or servers don't load. The path is then deleted in the settings. The same is with the \ at the end of the path. The game icon isn't the correct one, but any settings I change, or worlds I create are saved some were. The game sounds don't work, nor do the subtitles, even if i press F3+T. After a random amount of time the game output log will go blank. This is new behavior.
Settings in the launcher
The bug this is mark as a duplicate of is the directory of the launcher, not the directory of the game as set by the profile options as this bug is.
I believe that the game checks if there is internet connection, if not, then it doesn't bother with broadcasting to Xbox, and LAN.
Wi-Fi
Another update reverted the way the launcher reacts to the odd path to the connected computer. It now just gives an error message like before.
