It has also happened to me. I’m in a survival world riding my horse across one of many rivers in my world, but for some reason my horse would just not come out of the water onto dry land. The only way to get them (or donkeys/mules/zombie horses) out the water is to either wait for them to swim onto land, or use a lead, which is highly inconvenient
