This bug still happens as of the latest version at this time. I know this is legacy but I'm hoping since Minecraft PS4 edition and Bedrock are the same app, y'all can take some time to go over bugs like this reported by the community and include some fixes in a patch. So far it seems like the issues introduced in the last patches for PS4 edition are not at all a priority for the team.

Chiming in here to say I'm a big fan of the editions version and sad that it's still broken and I'm very anxious for a fix. I used the book and quill item quite a bit when I used to play regularly on PS4 circa 2015/2016 and now that I've come back to play in 2023 it entirely breaks the way I like playing the game.

Some pertinent info: I'm playing on PS5 via back-compat, and on some of the worlds I still have from many updates ago I am able to read the signed books I wrote without crashes in the latest update. But as soon as I attempt to open an unsigned/fresh Book and Quill item in any world, new or old, the game crashes with error code CE-108255-1

Please fix this! I'm quite upset that the game I had loved for years no longer functions correctly. I sincerely hope a small patch to address this can be pushed.
