Why are you running Minecraft in a virtual machine? This issue sounds like something that could be caused by this setup. Also, can you make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements to run Minecraft?

This is a duplicate of MC-154903, you have to enable the "Discrete Scrolling" option in Options → Controls → Mouse settings
The Discrete Scrolling Option fixed this issue for me on macOS Monterey 12.6.
hmm ... alt+tabbing ingame simply opens the pause menu for me. so i cannot reproduce this, or is there anything i'm doing wrong? i have attached i video of my process

Your game, launcher or server is modified.
If you can reproduce the issue in a vanilla environment, please recreate the issue.
Any non-standard client/server/launcher build needs to be taken up with the appropriate team, not Mojang.
Any plugin issues need to be addressed to the creator of the plugin or resource pack.
If you have problems on large servers, such as The Hive and Hypixel, please contact them first as they run modified server software.
