A fix I found for this is to go the control panel, then go to network and internet. then go to network sharing center, then go to change adapter settings, then right click on the one your connected to and go to properties, then I unchecked the box that says IPv6 and it worked great.

@KenGreen1 it didnt work unfortunatly I guess ill just play bedrock untill it works.

having the same problem

i just got minecraft for pc and wanted to play java and this happened to me as well. I don't know what to do besides play bedrock.
