Initial window size of freshly created Minecraft 1.8.2 in Launcher 1.6.11 : window is resizable and maximise tool icon works. Next three screenshots show window being resized, the fifth and last shows the window after fullscreen entered and exited: note maximise tool icon is disabled and user can no longer resize window. Minecraft 1.8.1 did not have this problem. Minecraft 1.8.4 still has this problem.
Note: Operating system is Windows 8 and java is 64bit installed by the launcher. Java -version output for this Minecraft 1.8.2 installation is:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.2.9200]

Confirmed in 1.15 Pre-release 2, see attached screenshot 2019-11-26_16.05.19.png :
Java edition, WIndows 8, both new world and world updated from previous snapshot (1.14 something).
To reproduce:
create new survival world with cheats on
enter world, change gamemode to creative
fetch enderchest
change gamemode to survival
place enderchest
observe only the selection box but no texture
Use F3 (debug) to check the block is minecraft:enderchest
Similarly for old worlds:
select a survival world containing a pre-placed enderchest last opened in a 1.14 snapshot
backup and convert world to 1.15 Pre-release 2
enter world
look at previously placed Ender chest and notice it's invisible
