I ended up just running the pigmen around for a bit. then ran a number of blocks away (not sure how many). Built a lil cobble enclosure and that seemed to do the trick. now when I go back they just ignore me.
having the same issue on my realm. I've logged off and on a number of times and entered and left the nether, but pigmen stay aggressive no matter how far away I am
experience the same thing trying to run. Did make sure it was online also, uninstalled than reinstalled still did not work.
