If you fly up to the barrier it lets you go on an invisible block. It's been a bug for a long time. (Not the sky barrier).
I checked. The textures are ok.

Yeah the mobs sometimes do that just kill the mob that is glitching though the block.
That is because they probably didn't put any pitcher in the snapshot you are on.
Use the name of the item in the newest snapshots. There not using ID's any more for ./give...
"steve" is floating above the minecart.
