I am experiencing the same issue. With Minecraft crashing on an iPad between 1-10 seconds after opening. Can be partially fixed by turning Wi-fi Off. Marketplace and purchases not available with this solution. I can't restore my purchases from when I deleted the game and reinstalled it. I even reset my iPad and internet router and that still had no effect. It is very frustrating because I have made many in game purchases. If I make a new account I am not sure that would even work, and I would lose my purchases.
