I can confirm I am seeing this on 1.18.1-RC1, I have never seen it before, and I keep a terminal screen open 24x7 with the log output sent to it for multiple servers (to keep an eye on chat, mostly), message is nearly identical:

also does not work in creative mode when placing a spawner and right clicking with an Axolotl spawn egg. I did not test in lush caves biomes and when there is a clay block less than five blocks below the spawning space.
ignore me I guess, I created it in single player w45, upgraded to w46 and it was not there in either one. I can test again on a clean build on server if necessary, but otherwise leave it closed.
thanks for checking, i uploaded a screenshot, but did not record video of breaking them. was there a change that modifies the spawning of ores to reoccur? I created the map in snapshot 45, I can attach it here if you would like, but I mined the diamonds to see how many there were, so they are not there now, just the space.
does it matter that I created the game on java server, not java single player?
just happened on a completely vanilla 22w16b server that had been online for not less than 16 hours, all users logged off, except one. nothing else in the event logs after that until the crash. Server shutdown gracefully after crash and
will NOT relaunch.I did get it back online, but it only stayed up for 13 hours this time. Pretty sure I know the cause based off the info here. One of the players setup a guardian farm out in the ocean. I did not think that was the issue the first time as the only person online was no where near it, so it should have been unloaded chunks
