How long has Searge been working on this?
I should note that commands are not executed from the center of the block, rather the selectors search for entities from the center of the block.
For example, the command:
/execute @p ~ ~ ~ particle cloud ~ ~ ~ 0 0 0 0 100 force
Will create particles at exactly the player's feet.
Grum, could you please explain why you chose not to fix this?

If it helps, I know that it's not the rendering of the slimes that's off. Their actual position, or at least their hitbox, is offset.
I'll have a look through the 1.8 source code and see if I can find anything myself.

Points taken, however the player does not need to be on the same team as the shulkers to avoid Being pushed by them. And what if the player does want to be pushed by them?
...I suppose if shulkers only pushed players when they were on a scoreboard team specifically allowing it, then everyone would be happy.
It's not a problem. Simply create a scoreboard team, set its collisionRule to never, and add your shulkers to that team.
I can confirm that this happens not only when they spawn in the air, but also when the block under them is destroyed, and all with NoAI set to 1.
In that case, how long has be been assigned to this?
