I also have this issue, I am playing in 1.16.1. I was in a creative world in the nether and I put a lodestone in my house and right-clicked it with the compass. I got the "Country Lode take me home" advancement, but my compass was still spinning randomly and doesn't point towards the Lodestone, nor does it look enchanted. I tried saving and reloading but the compass still won't point towards the lodestone.
Edit: I switched my gamemode to survival and right-clicked the lodestone again and this time the compass connected to it and is now pointing to it. I guess the glitch is only in creative?
2nd Edit: apparently in creative mode right-clicking on a lodestone adds a "lodestone compass" to your inventory while keeping the regular compass you right-clicked on it with. since my hotbar was full I didn't notice that there were several lodestone compass's in my inventory.
