This also happens with other mobs when you shoot in series. I tested it with skeletons and creepers and one of the 15 arrows fired bounced off the air (with both mobs). Additionally, when aiming at the center of a skeleton, the arrow went through its ribs and if the mob moved, it bounced off its shoulder as if from a hidden hitbox border
