Summary: BDS 1.26.30.5 (Linux) sends empty/truncated unconnected-pong; clients cannot connect
Affected version: 1.26.30.5 (also reproduced on preview 1.26.30.32)
Platform: Linux Dedicated Server (Ubuntu-based container)
Description: Server starts normally, binds the UDP port, loads the world, and logs "Server started." Clients on the matching version (1.26.30) send an unconnected ping and receive a reply, but never proceed to Open Connection Request — the connection times out.
Evidence: Packet capture shows the pong packet (ID 0x1c) terminating immediately after the magic bytes with no MOTD payload. Server build 1.26.23.1, on an identical configuration, sends a complete MCPE;... MOTD string and clients connect and handshake fully. Include both hex dumps side by side: the empty 33-byte 1.26.30.5 pong versus the 146-byte 1.26.23.1 pong containing the readable MCPE;Minecraft Bedrock Server;975;1.26.23;... string.
Log Dump: See attached
Steps to reproduce:
Run BDS 1.26.30.5 on Linux.
From a 1.26.30 client, add the server by IP/port.
Observe the ping reply followed by a connection timeout.
Swap the binary to 1.26.23.1 with the same configuration — the connection succeeds (rejected only on version).
Environment
Truenas 26. client ipad and windows running mojang 26.30

Solved yes… if you're only running one server, otherwise the rest will fail to bind to LAN discovery ports.
Adding my data to the pile. Not sure what it means, because I can’t find a through line here.
I run 3 servers, currently using raknet transport. BedrockConnect runs on 19132 and grabs that port. Server 1 gets 19133 and 19134. Server 2 gets 19135 and 19136. Server 3 gets 19137 and 19138.
If I set enable-lan-visibility to false, nothing works. (Yesterday, it was just timing out; today I get “Multiplayer Connection Failed”, even while changing nothing. Not sure what’s up there.)
In the client, if I try to connect to the odd numbered ports (that is, the IPv4 ports) it fails. Ping fails, connections fail, etc. But, if I tell the client to work on the even numbered ports (that is, the IPv6 ports), everything (both pings and connections) works fine.
If I change the transport to nethernet, (and change the ports back) nothing works.
For the time being, I can change the BedrockConnect config to allow connecting to both IPv4 and IPv6 ports, and that will get me running, but it seems someone did a lot of mucking about in the networking code and broke some pieces there.
