Skeleton trap spawns too close to player

I play on a mushroom island with two friends, where we only have unechanted iron gear. I went AFK for at most two minutes, to then realize it had started to thunder and a skeleton trap spawned right in my face, triggering immediately. Because I was AFK, the skeletons killed me and all of my items despawned because it's nearly impossible to face four skeletons with enchanted gear using only your fists.

A simple solution to this problem would be making it so that a skeleton trap can only spawn at least 24 blocks away from the player, like hostile mobs.

I think it's a feature request, as nothing says they shouldn't spawn close to the player. You just got "lucky"

This seems like it is working as intended. Occasionally you will get unlucky (or lucky depending on how you look at it) and this could happen but it adds a sense of insecurity to the player during thunderstorms.

I fail to see the bug here. WAI in my opinion.
