Can someone please tell me what to do if they know? Also, I have done MANY of the force updates and it still does not work.

When I want to login to Minecraft it has "Try Again" and "Play offline" buttons when i am connected to the internet. It also wont let me do any more updates and I am still on 1.3.1

Maybe some firewall/hosts entries that make you not reach the minecraft domain? This is the launcher indicating you cannot reach the place to login which is something that is on your side.
