Can't breed Donkeys with Horses, making Mules unobtainable

I cannot breed a donkey and a horse to get a mule. They simply ignore each other.

Horse on Horse works fine.
Donkey on Donkey also works fine.

I tried both golden apples as golden carrots.

can confirm, if you are stating that the tamed horse and donkey just ignore each other, the description needs more detail.
I would also prefer if there was a video or screenshots.
