This appears to be fixed for Illagers in 16w39b. Shulker boxes do have subtitles, but use the same text as enemy shulkers (i.e. "shulker opens"/"shulker closes"; probably intended).

However, no subtitles for the Llamas yet.

Confirmed in 16w39c. No subtitles for llamas, and subtitles for shulker boxes do not distinguish themselves from enemy shulkers (intended?).
