Cocoa beans dont update blocks when planted or grow, wheat doesn't update blocks during growth

In 1.4.7 when I placed a cocoa bean on a jungle wood block it would update the block i was placing it in and there for update my bud switch, wheat when I plant it it updates the block but the growth stages do not. The only ime cocoa beans update the block is when I break them. I know it isn't the bud switch but ya I was using this feature to build automatic farms but I would love to see this fixed.
