Edge of Slime blocks acts like normal blocks when falling

When falling on the edge of a Slime block...
What I expected to happen was...:
No fall damage and bouncing.
What actually happend was...:
Fall damage and no bouncing.
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Move to the edge of a Slimeblock. You can use sneaking so you dont fall of so easily.
2. Jump.
3. /tp ~ ~24 ~

Fall damage (and slime block bouncing) is calculated with the block right below you; this means that you're not falling on the slime block, but rather the block besides it.

That is what I assumed, but still you are landing on the Slime block when there is nothing but air around it. In my opinion the damage should be absorbed when the only block that could cause the damage is a Slime block. Also the only other blocks around are Air. And air normaly doesn't cause fall damage either.
