Magma Blocks Losing Light Level

After logging into the same world several times, my magma blocks (which I use to light up an area) seems to lose its light level and this causes mobs to spawn, It is truly terrifying finding a creeper spawning in your base, especially when you assume that everything is lit up.

Although magma blocks emit light, their light is not strong enough to prevent mobs from spawning. Therefore, this is working as intended.

In my experience, it has worked to prevent mobs, I could be wrong however.
Whenever I would light the magma blocks up with torches to use them as a light source, It would work to prevent spawning, the problem was that the magma blocks would not retain the light level that I had given it, and would return to its original non-light emitting state.

In the images I provided, the one image shows the room lit up with an average of 10 light level emitted by the magma blocks, but it loses that light level randomly, resulting in a lower light level that allowed mobs to spawn.

I know that it is supposed to retain the light level, but it isn't doing that.
It seems to retain the light level for only a couple logins then it loses it completely

Magma blocks aren't supposed to retain the light level. In fact, that's the bug. See MC-102162.

Would it be at all possible to add that as a feature to the base game then?
(I doubt this would be looked at on the minecraft suggestions page)

No, it's confusing and there's no sense in it, nor any reason for it.

It could be used as another light source (what I have done) and if it's already somewhat implemented as a bug, then all you would have to do is locate the bug and use the bug to officially implement it? Or doesn't it work that way?
