MC-117619

The player's hitbox does not match his model when he sneaks.

What I expected to happen was...:
Hitbox of the player should be shortened a little more.

What actually happened was...:
The player's hitbox must be at the level of his model.

Can confirm for 1.12-pre3.

Could maybe be resolved as duplicate of MC-50367 but then this case needs to be added since that report currently states sneaking is fine.

I would suggest we reopen this one. And only make MC-50367 a related issue.

Reason: Changing the players eye height on sneaking is different and significantly more difficult than changing the static collision boxes or eye positions of mobs.
If the players eye height would just jump down that would probably look really weird and be irritating for the player, as the camera is in the eye position.

Panda, when sneaking the camera should move down, as it also does. Also how can this be difficult, it works in every other first person game without any problems. 😉

Ahh, don't be too harsh, I see the winky face, but it exists other ways to say it without being "mean".

@unknown Oh ok. I was just trying to split up an old report that contained several issues. I didn't specifically check how the camera behaves when sneaking before commenting.
So it appears the camera position and eye height already both move down a little and it interpolates between the positions for a smooth transition. So what I described is an mostly unrelated and long solved issue 😃

Still, the point I was trying to make that this issue different enough from MC-50367 to deserve it's own report still stands.  The players model (or possibly collision box) not being positioned correctly when sneaking does not equate to mobs generally having unfitting collision boxes.
The goal of the splitting is to make enough clearly defined small issues out of the collection issue. These issues are easier to fix and can be marked as fixed without considering a bunch of more or less related issues.

Thanks @unknown 🙂 Good to see people looking after each other and for polite communication on here.

Also MC-48191is pretty similar to this one, just that it doesn't mention hit/collision-boxes.

Why is this issue reopened? With the latest snapshot (19w12a) it looks like the player hitbox finally matches up with the model.

No it's in 19w12a. Take a look at 146256

It is patched since the 19w14a with the modification of the operation of the player's hitbox.
