[MC-122148] No Block, Item, Mob, GUI, or any other texture renders -- No sounds play

Everything in the game displays the "missing texture" texture (Purple and black squares) including all GUIs, mobs, blocks, items, and everything else in the game that has a texture, including the title screen.

Sounds also don't play for anything.

Don't use a resourcepack with the snapshot.

I managed to navigate to the resource pack menu and none but the default were active.

See the screenshot I’ve attached. I have no resource packs selected and I even temporarily moved all my resource packs to a different location so that the game would have no way of knowing about their existence. Every single resource in the game fails to load on launch.

What I noticed in launcher_log.txt is the weird mix of slashes and backslashes in the filepaths, e.g.

I think I may have found the cause of this issue. I have my profiles based on each version, and play from different game directories.
~/.minecraft/saves/1.12
~/.minecraft/saves/1.13

The options.txt file in my 1.13 directory was the issue, though it worked fine on previous 1.13 snapshots.
I deleted my ~/.minecraft/saves/1.13/options.txt file, started a new game, change options to recreate options.txt.

Comparing old and new I've narrowed down the line in options.txt that caused this issue:
Search for: lang:en_US
Replace as: lang:en_us

Xavom has pinpointed the source of the trouble. I have edited my options.txt file accordingly and can switch the bug on and off by using en_US and en_us, respectively.

Sorry for the late reply. The language-casing seems to be a holdover from the MC 1.8 profile generation.

I was using an old profile for the snapshots when I got hit. It can be reproduced by creating a new MC 1.8 profile in the launcher.
