V-sync automatically turned off each time the game starts

V-sync always gets automatically turned off every time the game starts and players would have to turn it back on manually. However, even though it has been turned off, it still shows it is on but the screen flickers a lot. This bug is particularly annoying to players who have old monitors without video card sync.

The bug does not show up on every device. I tried to reproduce it on my laptop but it did not show up. I will try to record a video later

I cannot confirm this behavior for 1.12.2 that's in the affected version list, but I'm facing the same issue since snapshot 17w45a. I'm having massive screen tearing issues since that particular snapshot. The only way to fix this is to turn off vsync (despite the button already saying that vsync is 'on'), and enabling it again. This lasts as long as the game is running and the procedure has to be repeated everytime I start the game.

So apparently vsync is turned off after the game starts even though it says it's enabled in the video settings and you can only get it to work by re-setting it to the on-state.

i recently tested out and it does not happen in 1.12.2
Hopefull this is temporary and the developers will fix this soon because manually turing on V-sync after launching the game every time is really annoying

It is doing it to me as well after applying the "fix" per [MC-122882] which was to run the latest snapshot to get the new libraries.

Environment:
Windows 10
Java Version 8 Update 151 (build 1.8.0_151-b12)
Intel Core i5 Quad-Core 3.1 Ghz
8GB 1600mhz RAM
ASUS nVidia 550ti 1GB

It only started doing it after downloading 17w49a. My FPS was up in the 300-400s!

@Aaron Atkins

It happens every time I restart on my end.

Are you starting game in fullscreen? If so, then this issue may be related to MC-130374

Yes, that is likely the issue I was experiencing. I am having difficulty recreating the extent of the screen tearing I was having back in February, but I was using fullscreen mode then also.
Edit: It is really easy to see screen tearing in a desert biome cause of the light/dark contrast. And yes, the issue for me is fullscreen mode only, so it is probably MC-130374.

Appears to be fixed in 1.13-pre3.
