This is something really strange.When a torch/ Redstone torch gets surrounded by slabs
and then on top of that torch, a block is placed (it doesn't have to be a slab) the light's distance and intensity dramatically gets lowered.

Yes, sorry for updating though , the previous issue that I reported was false, so I updated this post for this bug I found immediately. so yes technically it is..
but it needs attention since pretty much minecraft has a problem with slabs and lightning , if you could contact them , that would be nice !

I remember they tried to add directional light to MC once. It was 12w39a or so. The problem with slabs, stairs etc is that it have to pass light from everywhere but bottom and to everywhere but bottom. upside down must pass light from everywhere but top and to everywhere but top. Stairs and variants of stairs are much more complex. That's why MC-83277 is postponed.
