Dead Coral has only one variant, showing a texture pattern inconsistent with the living corals

Now that the game has no more limit for block IDs, one would expect it to make use of this new ability:
There's only one variant of Dead Corals available right now, all different living, colored corals turn into this single grey variant when they die. The coral textures all have different texture patterns as of 18w10a, which makes the dead coral texture pattern inconsistent with the living variants. It also makes consistent retexturing of the dead and living variants impossible for resource packs. Giving each living coral its own dead variant would easily solve this issue.

What you are describing is a feature suggestion, not a bug.

Seems more like a feature suggestion - but you have a point. This is sort-of valid. But unless Mojang decides to give each coral a different texture, like concrete power, it shouldn't be an issue.

Thank you for your report!

CreeperMagnet_ it is certainly an issue for resource packs: You're basically forced to give the different types of corals the same texture pattern right now to keep them consistent with their dead form. That's comparable to only benig able to get a single type of stripped log block out of all the different types of tree logs - this wouldn't make sense either. I know it's not a technical bug per se, but definitely a game design related issue.

Reopening for mojang to decide; this may be an oversight.

Updated title and description to fit the changes in 18w10a. This issue is even more obvious now that the living vanilla coral variants all have their unique texture patterns.
