Large amount of Rabbits

I've noticed that there's more rabbits than any other mob in any normal world I have. I'm pretty sure there is a spawn cap, but they just happen to spawn a lot more than anything else. It also causes some lag that I've been trying to fix by teleporting some of them into the void to die ._.
