Ender Dragon spawned in Overworld travels to 0,0,0

All Ender Dragons spawned (by /summon EnderDragon ~ ~ ~ {DragonPhase:0} and other methods) travel to, and stay at the coordinates of 0, 0, 0. This is especially an issue when spawned in the Overworld.

I've looked at previous tickets on the issue which seem to suggest spawning the dragon via the above command somehow corrects the issue - it does not.

The dragon will not fly in the overworld if DragonPhase is not set. If it is set, it will fly to 0 / 0, because that's how the dragon works.

So, if you want to prevent your dragon from flying, just use /summon minecraft:ender_dragon.

The ticket says:

The fix of that ticket freezes any summoned Dragon. If you want your summoned Dragon to fly, use

/summon EnderDragon ~ ~ ~ {DragonPhase:0}

That does not fix the behavior outlined in the issue, above. This response seems like the original issue was not read, at all.

It fixes the issue quite well – the dragon does not move (to 0/0/0), unless you specifically tell her to.

It sounds like you may be confused; as the issue states, the problem is not that the Ender Dragon moves, but rather that it moves specifically to the 0, 0, 0 coordinates in overworld. It also states the command you provided results in this same behavior.

It should also be noted that even spawning the dragon without the dragonphase variable, it will eventually move to 0, 0, 0 after hovering in place for some time.

The ideal resolution is for the ender dragon to behave normally within it's local area in the overworld without moving to 0, 0, 0.

The command was added to the report after the bug was fixed. It's not part of the report.

Possibly, but that wouldn't be a bug, but a feature request. This is a bug tracker, not a place to complain about the game.

Jeffrey Wright

I mentioned that command in the first line, so it is most certainly in the report.

"Erratic and Strange Mob Behavior in Overworld isn't a bug?" would be my natural response, especially since I have personally seen it work normally in earlier versions of the game. Also, that's a bit uncivil and kind of rude: I understand that you just want to be done with this issue, but surely that kind of dismissive attitude doesn't help matters.

It's not erratic and strange, it's the exact behaviour that it's supposed to have. MC-85304 was marked as fixed by @unknown, not a moderator. It's supposed to be like that. You can't use it for mapmaking yes, but that isn't the intention of the ender dragon.

That must have been before the ender dragon behaviour has been revamped.

Discussions like these really aren't the purpose of this site; we don't consider this behaviour as being a bug, and unless a Mojang employee specifically says otherwise, it stays like that.

I'm sorry if I sound rude, I'm not a native English speaker.
