Certain characters upon loading the game do not load in. It seems to be random every time the game is launched, but it's mostly lowercase v that's bugged for me. Bugged letters do not seem to effect their uppercase or lowercase counterparts.
The bug appears to happen in most User Interfaces, such as the options, survival/creative menu, advancements, and even selected items on the action bar.
Reloading the texture pack with F3+T can help reset the problem, but when starting up the game, the problem persists. On top of this, I'm using the default texture pack.

You might try to install the "newest" driver from here https://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy2&os=Windows%20Vista%20-%2032
but you should be aware AMD's comment:
After five years of active service, the ATI Radeon™ HD 4000, ATI Radeon™ HD 3000, and ATI Radeon™ HD 2000 Series products reached peak performance optimization on October 15, 2013, and were transitioned to a legacy support lifecycle. No additional driver releases are planned for these products. It is important that PC gamers migrate to a modern AMD Radeon™ graphics card.
