Animal spawn eggs occasionally spawn baby animals

The bug

Using a spawn egg will occasionally spawn a baby rather than an adult, regardless of whether it was spawned on another adult.

Affected animals

(List may be incomplete)

  • Horses

  • Donkeys

  • Mules

  • Ocelots (baby spawns together with parent)

How to reproduce

  1. Get a spawn egg, for example a horse spawn egg.

  2. Use the horse spawn egg. (not on another horse)
→ ❌ Notice that a baby horse has been spawned (after few tries)

Can confirm for 1.13.1, this applies to every mob that can spawn as a child in survival.

Confirmed for 1.13.2-pre1.

Confirmed for 1.13.2-pre2.

This only seems to affect certain mobs (I just noticed ocelots and horses, donkeys and mules). If I missed some, please mention them in the comments.

Also, this might have been fixed in 19w37a (see MC-160999 and MC-160945), will test that further.

Why is this a bug? It makes more sense with the new feature of baby animals sometimes spawning in groups.

My point is that this bug doesn't seem to happen in the latest snapshot. I've tested this now and it indeed seems like this issue has been fixed.

And it was a bug that existed already before this snapshot, obviously.
