Items with full durability can be successfully combined in a crafting bench or grindstone

The player can combine/repair two items that have full durability inside of a crafting bench or grindstone, despite the same not being possible in an anvil.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Get two new items at full durability

  2. Combine them inside of a crafting bench or grindstone
    → ❌ The items combine

  3. Repeat the previous steps with an anvil instead
→ βœ” The items do not combine

Expected Results:

The items would not combine because they are both at full durability, and there is nothing which can, or needs to be repaired. This effectly 'deletes' a completely usable and new item.

I'd hate to see this behavior changed. It's currently the only way to remove enchantments.

I think the only thing that would change is that you'd have to do one durability of damage. And maybe I'm thinking about it wrong, but would that not end up being a waste of materials? I'm thinking that at the point this would be useful, you're already making a new item to remove the enchantments from the other.

Typically, you'd combine tools that were obtained without crafting (bows from fishing, gear purchased from villagers, etc.) in order to add desired enchantments. Requiring at least one point of durability before combining items could work, of course, but it feels unnecessary.

Maybe the problem is just one of terminology, using the crafting table to "repair" the item. It doesn't make any sense to repair something that is pristine. I tend to think of it more as combining durability, although the difference is a minor semantic one.
