I was trying to eat my bread and interact with blocks in Minecraft 13w16a. I use a trackpad, so I held down the control key and the game thought I was trying to break the crafting table, furance, etc. with my hand.

I think you can change that in the system preferences?
Yes, you can change the shortcut, but that changes the shortcut system-wide, which I can't work with. Plus, I have been using left-control click for almost and 2 years on Minecraft and even longer through regular computer use, and what about all those other people who do not know how to change the shortcut? I just hope that Mojang will fix this. One thing I noticed that may be influenced by the change, is the ability to move and choose an item using the number-pad, which was not possible before.
Not sure what to do with this. This is indeed changed because of lwjgl, I can indeed see that if you were used to this ancient mac behaviour that you might want it back (I mean, nowadays they make mouses that actually have 'two buttons' (not really but you can still do the gesture on them).
I think we might need some sort of option for this. However it will also destroy the possibility to 'record' ctrl being used as a modifier for other things.
Oh, that's fine. I think the option would make it possible to use the control key for other things if you implement that, and I have seen many duplicates of this issue on Mojira, and I think that it would satisfy the amount of people that use this "ancient mac behavior".
If what you are saying is that the control key will not be used for another keybind, then I totally understand, because many, many Minecrafters use the control key for other purposes. If that is the problem, then I hope that all of the people using this "left-control click" will adjust to the change.
I think there are a lot of people really used to this legacy setup (which, newer mice aside, is still pretty integral on a MacBook when using the trackpad alone, as many of us do). Is it out of the question to allow MC to detect both Control as a binding and Control-click?

Fancy that. Question answered before you even asked it, though it's a little ambiguous whether he meant simply adding the option would make control unavailable as a modifier, or if that would only happen when turning the option on.
Well, the impression I got was that you can either monitor Control-anything (like Control-A) or you can monitor Control-clicks-that-become-right-clicks. I have trouble imagining people binding Control-anything, at least in the numbers rivaling MacBook Control-clickers. If Minecraft could detect Control-by-itself as a keypress AND Control-mouseclick, that would seem to please the most number of people by my (admittedly biased) estimation.
I totally agree Joe, but we'll have to see in the next launcher update or the next snapshot...
Hey Grum, there's no need to be condescending. The fact is, most of us are talking about our laptop trackpad, not a mouse. On a laptop it is much quicker to modify a single button with control than it is to switch your thumb between a left and right click like on a PC laptop.
I got the answer! Go to Menu (esc) and go to controls and change your use item to LCONTROL! Sadly, instead of clicking AND pressing control at the same time, all you do is press control. Hope this helped!
Yes, you have to press the trackpad with two fingers and click, but I feel that to be too awkward to do every single time I want to interact with something...
