There is a bug where you can get to the multiplayer menu in the demo version of Minecraft.
NOTICE: You cannot join servers with this bug (if you attempt to, it will give the "Bad session token" error, as if you launched the game offline and then tried to join a server). You may be able to join LAN games though.
This bug affects all versions of Minecraft that have the demo feature and can open games to LAN. To re-produce:
1) Open demo Minecraft and click "Play Demo World".
2) Pause the game, open the world to LAN and turn on cheats.
3) Once the world is open to LAN, execute the command "/kick @p"
4) You will get kicked from the world. Click "Return to server list".
5) You will arrive in the server list. You're done!
How I suggest a fix: If the user is playing the demo version of Minecraft, have the game change "Return to Server List" to "Return to Title Screen" (and make it so the button actually returns you to the title screen.)

Wow. I haven't updated this since 2018! Plus, nobody has gotten back to me yet.
Edit: Since nobody is noticing this bug, and because it's not really that big of a security issue (you can't join servers, only LAN games, and I'm not even sure of that), I'm making this ticket public.

How is this bug "harmful"? Joining LAN games doesn't seem harmful to me. Obviously, you can't join regular servers. (also thanks for noticing this old bug report, it means a lot to me. I hate being ignored)

I tested the bug itself (it still works) but I haven't tested LAN games yet (I tried cracked and online mode servers though, didn't work at all)

This comment from MC-14923 claims that MC-14923 is an alternative way for demo players to access the multiplayer screen, and the comment also claims that demo players can access cracked servers in this way. It is unclear whether the commenter actually tested this or is just speculating. I have not tested this myself.

Moreover, and more importantly, I tested this game bug on a minor's account, full version, with Multiplayer disallowed, and that also worked, bypassing parental controls!

Theoretically you can bypass Minecraft new ban system with this.
But haven't tried, because I am not banned, and don't wont to be 🙂.

You'd still be unable to authenticate if you tried to join a server — bans don't just affect the client.
