When upgrading from an older version to the newest snapshot, rain will go through blocks that were placed in the older version (tested from 1.8.8 to 19w05a).

@unknown This is the wrong edition of Minecraft. Make your own report for the Pocket edition.
Your issue is most likely MCPE-37557.
Reopened, see MC-142727
@unknown: Don't forget that if others can reproduce the issue still, the ticket should be reopened... Consider this a warning.

Cannot reproduce in 19w03c. Please see attached screenshot.

Please don't attach screenshots to a bug report that shows how you personally can't reproduce an issue. Upload it to some image hosting site instead if you feel the need to share your experience.

Just going to say that I can’t reproduce in 19w03c...

Yes, we got it. You already said that.

Just tested again in a world created in 19w03c. Cannot reproduce at all. Made ceilings up to the height limit to no avail.
Edit: just tested with slabs, glass, trapdoors, and stairs. Cannot reproduce for those blocks.
:info: To everyone who can reproduce this issue: Can you please tell us in which version you created the world and after that, in which versions you played it? Also, it would help to understand the issue if you could share your world (in which this issue occurs) with us. (You can attach the zipped world file here, or alternatively, if the world file is too large, upload it to a file uploading service and link it here.)

I can reproduce this in 19w04b from a world I created in 1.10.2. It's been through every 1.12, 1.13, and 1.14 snapshots. The rain only goes through blocks that haven't received a block update in the 1.14 snapshots, or weren't generated in new chunks.

Confirmed for 19w09a.

My world has been upgraded from 1.8 , 1.9 ,1.10 ,1.11,1.12 and now to 19w11b. The rain penetrates blocks that was generated before 19w11b. You can dig a hole in a hill and it will rain. You have to place blocks above you to stop the rain. When you remove them the rain continues.

After further investigation I have found out that you can replicate this by starting a 1.12.2 world and then directly upgrade to 19w11b.
If you upgrade 1.12.2->1.13.2->19w11b it does not happen.

Latest snapshot and it is still happening!

Confirmed for 19w13b on the same world as before.

If it is confirmed on 19w13b why is that a version that is fixed?

It might have been fixed some other way, but it's not fixed for me.

Did you convert/upgrade the old world again with 19w13b, or did you just update Minecraft and continued to play the world you upgraded with the older 1.14 snapshots?

I just upgraded it from playing it in 19w13a, I'll convert it now.

After over 350 thousand chunks, nothing is different.
Should I send you the world?
Upgrading from snapshots to other snapshots is not always supported. If you have this issue after upgrading a world that was last opened in a full release (such as 1.13.2 or 1.12.2), we will reopen this ticket.

I last opened my realm in 1.13.2 and when the realm got upgraded to 1.14 it started raining through the roof as stated above. I think this should be reopened.
There's a new ticket about this issue: MC-149791

issue still exists in 1.15 pre-release1

I have been playing the 1.16 snapshots. I just upgraded to 20w17a and it is raining inside buildings again even below ground but not through every block. concreet, half slabs, andesite but not stone
