What I expected to happen was...:
When i resize another window to not effect the size of minecraft.
What actually happened was...:
having minecraft half screened and paused, resizing/minimising another window open (not minecraft) it resizes minecraft client to center screen.

Is this still a concern in the current Minecraft version? If so, please update the affected versions in order to best aid Mojang ensuring bugs are still valid in the latest releases/pre-releases.
Temporary work around! (windows 7, MC version 1.6.2)
If you don't fling the minecraft window to a side of the screen, but instead manually resize each side to where ever you like (without letting windows 7 size it for you) it will hold that position.
to test just hover over the edge of the window, click and hold when you see the "<->" symbol, move your mouse in whatever direction, then switch between programs and back. Minecraft will stay the same size. repeat this for each side to get the desired size and position.
So anoying, you cant let Minecraft use half of your screen, while switching between Minecraft and a youtube tutorial on the other half
