[MC-148243] Mobs stop attacking/follow you after you hit it

The bug

The bug is when you attack a mob or a mob sees you, they will follow you. But sometimes it will just stop following/attacking for like a second or 2.

(This happens to almost every hostile mobs, but in this clip I used enderman for demonstration)

However, like zombies/husks they seem to stop attacking the player sometimes after you hit it a few times, but oftenly do that when you behind a wall such as fence and cobblestone walls

This relates to my other bug that I reported 2 weeks back. See MC-147516

This could be related to the issues reported where tamed pets (wolves etc) stop following you

They will still follow you and they can teleport to you. However, if your in the snow biome, they will follow as normal, but will not be able to teleport because they are on the snow layer block.

I think this is the same bug as the other one you reported; you stood still nearly the whole time, the enderman happened to hit you and vice versa though, but you were still directly next to it standing still

This is likely caused by the GroundPathNavigation which checks whether the entity is on the ground to perform its pathfinding; However, when you hit an entity, it gets knocked back and thus is in the air. If the timeframe is unfortunate, the pathfinding check may thus fail and the mob needs to wait until the next pathfinding, which can be several ticks later. For some reason, some of them seem to fail for other reasons.
