Powered rails are supposed to stop a mine cart, however they never in Minecraft's history stopped it to the point pressing W not even moving it. on unpowered rails you cannot move at all, you glitch forward. On regular rails which let you move freely before it's now the same speed as how normal unpowered rails should be. You can recreate this by placing 3 powered rails with no power down then at least 10 rails and you will see that it moves slow as hell. This issue is game breaking for me because I have been working on a map of New York Cities subway system everyday all day since September 2018, I hope this issue is a bug and not a feature because I will probably smash my computer and isolate myself for weeks. I have already completed 80ish of its ~450 stations and going back and changing the tracks on them will takes weeks. How can players reliably play the game if blocks like rails are changed destroying entire projects?

Still an issue in 1.19.4, after four full years. If this bug was a child it'd be walking and talking by now.
Affects 1.21, here is a video showcasing the issue:

When the player turns their camera 45* to the side, they can move forward.
I completely agree with this and hope it gets resolved. I have a massive rail network in my world that this update has all but broken. Why change the cart mechanics at all when they were basically fine?!
