To sum up, when you mount a minecart, it pops up with the message "Press LShift to dismount" and you hover above the minecart.

Addon: When you try to right-click to get off, it glitches you in the ground for a second.

Yes LShift to dismount the Minecart.

Actually, your supposed to right-click to dismount a minecart, l-shift is to dismount a horse.

You also dismount a boat with LShift and a pig. Consistency!
