Minecraft Alpha 1.2.0 doesn't play the hurt sound when taking damage

When taking damage in alpha 1.2.0 the hurt sound doesn't play (at least for fall damage).

It says 1.14.2 because Alpha 1.2.0 isn't an option.

You are reporting a bug in an alpha version that is 9 years old?

That version is very outdated. It is possibly no longer supported here.

Mojang actually doesn't even have this version... im very embarrassed.
