Minecarts and boats disapears when mined

When I hit a minecart or a boat several times with anything until it breaks it just dissappear instead  of dropping itself as an item.

What I expected to happen was:

1. Having destroyed boat or minecart in my inventory

What actually happened was:

1. Broken (mined) boat or minecart just disappeared etirely nowhere to be found

Steps to reproduce:

1. Try to pick up any boat or minecart after placing it anywhere in the world

I have already described this problem in my comment to the issue MC-161820 but was asked to create a new issue, so here it is.

I happen to have exactly the same problem here (on Java Edition). After mining any minecart or any boat it just disappears and doesn't drop anything. Currently I'm playing on a server which runs locally on my PC, but any other connected player experience the same minecart and boat behavior. It's pretty annoying and metal-cost heavy so fixing this bug would be very appreciated.

We play on an old map generated in like 2012 or something like this but the newest Minecraft Server app seemed to be fine with it.
