[MC-165765] freezes during loading screen on Mac OS 10.13.5

The loading screen for Java Edition hangs at around 80%. My mac reads that java is no longer responding. This only started happening recently. The only thing that's been updated (as far as I know) is the launcher.

Note that 1.8.9 and 1.13.2 load perfectly. Could be a 1.14 problem, 1.14.3 also freezes

But does the game still opens? Because for me always the game didn't respond when opening, but I can normally play it, on windows.

I've had it open for around 20 minutes now, still on the loading screen.

Seems very similar to MCL-6550, but that's a Windows-only issue.
