Add option for "transparent" blockmodels [Suggestion]

As a mapmaker myself I have to admit that we have gotten a lot of features to lay our hands on to enhance the Minecraft experience such as resource packs, 3dmodels, custom data models for items, data packs and so on. But on the topic of 3D-models and resource packs, there is one thing that a lot of mapmakers are dying for to happen and that is being able to make a 3D-model of an opaque block and make it transparent. We know that there have been posts about this thinking it is a bug and I know it is intended (for now at least), but I just could not help myself from thinking that the reason for this not to be a feature is questionable. Nearly all blockmodels we make do not cover an entire block and the argument I saw from a mod that "mc should only consist blocks" is outright stupid. Minecraft is blocky and should remain blocky, but the size of blocks is something that is already in the game. Heads, when placed down, are smaller than 16x16 pixels, fences, cauldrons, flowerpots, the list goes on. Secondly, the argument that transparent blocks make it a lot harder for the engine to render is fair, but in 99% of the time these blockmodels are not to replace stone, dirt or sand, they are meant to be a small decoration which purpose is to add another element into your map and this just makes it that much more enjoyable. This is why I am asking on behalf of mapmakers to get an option to render a blockmodel as transparent, thank you.
