Nether fog abruptly changes color when moving across biomes

The bug

When moving across certain biomes, the background fog color suddenly changes from red to blue (or vice versa). This happens regardless of the "Biome Blend" setting in video settings.

To reproduce

  • Create a world with seed 5643308435228203964

  • Run /execute in minecraft:the_nether run tp -170 90 -40

  • Move towards the soul sand and back into the crimson forest; the fog should suddenly change colors.

Preferably the fog should blend between biomes like biome blend for blocks in the overworld(though much much more softly). Even better, it could be volumetric, but I assume that's wishful thinking.

This is a feature request; however, it's something that we'll be looking at.

I remember there was a biome mod (don't remember which one) that changed sky color in a seamless transition... Whenever you stepped onto a biome with a new sky color, the color would start morphing smoothly from the origin color to the destination color... The process took like 10 seconds to complete, you didn't even notice it...
