Nether Fossil support islands are sometimes cut off at chunk borders

The bug

Fossiles in the Nether generate with support islands made of soulsand or gravel. Sometimes these islands are cut off exactly at chunk borders.

It appears this issue is still occurring in the latest versions, but not as extreme anymore.

How to reproduce

Last checked for 20w16a

  1. Press F3 + G to show chunk borders

  2. Create one of these worlds and move to the specified location

Confirmed. This issue can be fixed by making fossils only generate at the center of chunks, like overworld fossils.

I don't think this bug was fixed in 20w16a. The fossils are still cut in chunk borders.

Could you please provide seed (can be obtained with /seed) and coordinates (can be copied by pressing F3 + C)?

Here's an example on 20w16a. The fossils aren't floating but they're still cut in chunk borders. I uploaded the screenshots onto the ticket.

Thanks, I have found an occurrence myself now. Please next time attach the seed and coordinates in text form. Otherwise we need to type them from the screenshot which is tedious and error-prone.
