After Breeding new villagers they (the unemployed ones) have kicked master-level villagers off of their job blocks. For example, I had a single master-level librarian attached to one lectern. After breeding new villagers, the master-level librarian has disappeared (or, as it would appear, switched to unemployed) and a novice has taken its place with a new set of trades. This has occurred for multiple villagers and multiple job site blocks. During this process none of the job site blocks were broken, and no trades were made with the novices, however the master-level villagers have not yet returned.

@Galaxy_2Alex I am fairly confident that they were not killed by zombies. The light levels of the village are high enough to prevent spawning, the population was under that required for a zombie siege, and for good measure the entire village is surrounded by walls with several iron golems roaming the area. This issue occurred on my single player survival world with no modifications/data packs, etc. The issue continued today, with two more master-level villagers switching to unemployed while novices took their place.

Please make sure the master level villagers did not get killed by zombies or other means. Also, if this is on a server, please ensure that this is not caused by third party modifications such as Paper.
