When I provoke an enderman, whether I look at them or hit them, a majority of the time the enderman teleports away and never comes back. On normal occasions, an enderman will teleport around then come in to attack you, but when the issue happens, the enderman teleports away and then is completely gone. This happens in both the overworld and the nether, I'm yet to check the end. I don't remember this happening until this version.

No, it's a completely normal diamond sword. And as I said, it also happens in the nether, so its not the water.
In my case, starting the game in normal difficulty I will have no problem with Enderman. He acts as he normally acts. Problems occur, and this is not the only problem, after having the game on peaceful for several Minecraft days. Mobs generate less in explored areas is another symptom. For Enderman, he will come up to you when you look at him too long as you are approaching. Or you may approach him and attack him and he'll skirt around you a couple of times and then teleport away. There is no caves or open areas underground for him to teleport to, although in when started in normal mode I have found him in open areas underground, if they exist.
Some say with fire aspect he dies. No, he does not, there is no loot ever. This and other problems become worse after peaceful is used for several Minecraft days.
This problem has been going on for more than a year. Can we expect any progress on this? This is why I dropped out of beta and your help pages, lack of progress and merging unlike tickets into one. Please take our reports seriously.
Does your attack weapon have Fire Aspect or a similar effect? The enderman could be dying from the fire. It could also be teleporting into water by accident and be killed this way.
