[MC-192220] Can't copy signs (ctl+middle click)

I've tried using control+middle click to copy a sign and I just place a new sign and enter edit mode. In the inventory the sign showed the +NBT text.

This happened while playing in Windows, single player, creative, commands activated and no datapacks.

Hi there!

A few things to consider:

What is your operating system? Are you using MacOS? Windows? Linux? These different operating systems can change which keys are needed to copy signs.
Which gamemode are you playing on?
Are you playing on a server? If so, is this your own server, or a public server?
Did you have access to commands when you experienced this bug?

Given these few details, we should be able to resolve what's going on here.

This happens when you have a single player world as survival, but open to LAN and activate creative through /gamemode creative.

Save your game, re-enter. Even though you're still in creative mode, the game doesn't recognize you are. Will copy the NBT data, but won't place it. Just reopen to LAN, and it will work again.

I'd consider this a bug, but mainly posting in case anyone runs into this, and finds this comment.

@unknown being in creative mode doesn't mean you have cheats enabled. Logging out and back in to a LAN world removes cheats meaning you won't be able to pick block + control on blocks. Is this what you were experiencing @unknown
